Royal Geelong Yacht Club will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2009. The success of 19th century regattas, which date back to 1844, paved the way for the Geelong Yacht Club to be formed. Hence Skandia Geelong Week will play a pivotal role in the year long celebrations

Times have changed considerably since Geelong Yacht Club organised its first regatta in 1859, however the premise of the event remains the same. It is still ‘the fete of the season’ - an event that fosters and promotes the sport of sailing to the wider community.

On behalf of the membership I invite all sailors to join us next January to commemorate the 150th jubilee. It promises to be a momentous occasion. One that should not be missed!!!
